Center for Activities, Recreation & Leadership Talking Points

Club Sports: We offer 14 club sport opportunities for students to participate in. We have emailed all incoming first year students a medical form that needs to be signed by a physician prior to a student planning a club sport. We also have students sign a waiver and must complete baseline concussion testing prior to playing. To find out more about the 14 sports we offer, I encourage you to take a look here: http://www.sbu.edu/life-at-sbu/activities-programs/student-activities-recreation-leadership/sports-recreation-fitness/club-sports

Intramurals: Intramurals are a great way for students to play against other St. Bonaventure students in a less competitive, fun environment. We offer different intramural programs throughout the year. Students use an online link (that we provide them) to set up teams and register to play.

Student Activities: We have over 50 active clubs and organizations on campus. For a listing of all active clubs, please visit: http://www.sbu.edu/life-at-sbu/activities-programs/student-activities-recreation-leadership/student-clubs-organizations

In addition to the clubs and organizations, our Campus Activities Board coordinates the weekend and late night programming. They do bus trips to various places. In the fall semester, they are planning a white water rafting trip, trip to NYC, and a Buffalo Bills game. They also do schedule comedians, game shows, and other interactive activities to come to campus. They sell discounted movie tickets so that students can go to the local movie theater.

Freshmen Leadership Program: If your student is interested in enhancing their leadership skills, I highly recommend taking advantage of this program. A great way for students to meet other student leaders on campus. The program involves monthly rotations and covers a wide range of leadership activities

NYC/NJ Bus: I am not sure if you are from the NYC/NJ area, but we do assist in the coordination of buses to that area during breaks. Let me know if you would like more information on this.

Family Weekend: In your orientation folder was a tentative schedule for Family Weekend. We would love to see you back on campus in September. Please visit www.sbu.edu/familyweekend for updates as the event gets closer

We truly encourage all of our students to get involved outside of the classroom. Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all!
