Resources for Later in the Semester
Important Dates
Each academic year, it is a good idea to consult the academic calendars (available at https://www.sbu.edu/academics/academic-resources/registrars-office). Academic calendars are available four to five years in advance so that you can plan ahead. Important dates to note:
-
-
- The first and last day of classes for each semester, finals week dates, when midterm and final grades are due, and break dates for the semester
- End of Add/Drop period
- Last date a student can withdraw from a course, resulting in a "W" on their transcript
-
Other Dates
- Syllabi due dates--contact your department for deadlines. Your department can also help with appropriate templates that may be required in your program.
- Textbook submissions are due on April 15 (for fall courses) and October 15 (for spring courses). For other course start dates, please send your textbook information to the bookstore as soon as possible before the start of the semester/session.
- Submit text requirements to Annette Donavon, SBU Bookstore Manager, at adonavon@sbu.edu (phone 716-375-2229 if you have questions for Annette).
- If your course has a lead faculty member, check with them regarding text information.
- Do you have online text content that you would like to link in your Moodle course? Please email Karla Bright (kbright@sbu.edu) to make this happen.
- If you have an extra copy of the textbook, you can put it on reserve in the library--you can drop it off at the library reference desk. Please include a slip with the following information--your name, the course name and number, and the loan period you would like (2-hour in-library use, 24-hour, or 48-hour).
- Moodle courses open for students two weeks prior to the start of the semester for on-campus courses and four days before the session start date for SBU Online courses.
- Grade due dates are noted on the academic calendar. The Registrar will send a friendly reminder to faculty before midterm, and final grades are due. Submit grades here (click on the faculty link): Ellucian Student Application (sbu.edu)
